The manager of dancehall and Afrobeat artiste Shatta Wale, Bulldog has rubbished the electronic levy policy as he says it should rather be called F-levy.

E-levy has been one of the controversial topics for debate in the country since last year after the 2022 budget was read by finance minister Ken Ofori Atta in parliament.

Bullgod who was one of the panelists on the Untied Showbiz program on UTV shared his opinion on the controversial e-levy topic. According to him, it should be renamed F-levy and not e-levy. The F which signifies “Foolish” is the suggested name Bulldog gave saying he did not see the sense in the e-levy the government wants to impose on the citizens.

“I think we should rename it, s3 E-levy, let’s name it F-levy. It’s a foolish levy. It’s a foolish levy, simple. That’s my opinion on it I won’t say anything about it again. If something is foolish, it’s foolish”, Bulldog said.

The electronic transfer levy (e-levy) is a tax imposed on electronic transfers charged at the time of transfer by licensed banks, payment service providers (PSPs), and electronic money issuers. Ghana government introduced a 1.75% tax on all mobile money transactions exceeding GHc100. However, Ghanaians have stood to oppose the passing of the e-levy and demonstrated against it a few days ago with the hashtag, “#YentuaE-levy”.
