A 37-year-old researcher and professor at the Biology Department of the school of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh has been reportedly shot dead at his residence.
This researcher identified as Bing Liu is a Chinese researcher who was studying the biological make-up of Coronavirus.
He reportedly suffered gunshots in his head and neck.
A statement by his Department reads;
“Bing was on the verge of making very significant findings towards understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CovV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications”
The department has vowed to do everything possible to continue and complete what he has started in an effort to pay homage to his scientific excellence.
