CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah has finally reacted to claims made by some industry players that he is a member of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA’s) board.

Speaking with Doreen Avio in an interview, Richie Mensah stated clearly that he is not a member of the board of the award scheme as speculated by some industry players.
According to him, he had only made one appearance on the board and that was in 2014 when no artiste on his record label was nominated in any of the categories. He added that his one-time appearance on the board made people presume that he is a member of the board.
On social media, there has been discussion over Lynx CEO’s role in the VGMA Board of Directors and how he exploits that authority to affect his artists’ success in the award system.
If that is the case, he would have used his power to influence his artistes in winning the Artiste of the year 14 times, according to Richie.
“If I am so powerful, why haven’t we won Artiste of the Year fourteen times?” he quizzed,
He said that the VGMA has a rule that anyone who has an affiliation with any artiste nominated on the award scheme shall not be allowed to be a board member and as of 2014, Kuami Eugene and Kidi have not been signed on the label yet.
Richie also recounted that there was another time the PR of the board absented himself from a meeting and he was asked to fill in the gap on his behalf.
Richie also made mention that there have been times artistes will call him to convince him to help them in winning in the categories they’ve been nominated meanwhile, he was not part of the board to make such decisions.
Meanwhile, Richie Mensah managed to win the Producer of the Year award at the VGMA yesterday.
