Rwandan President Paul Kagame has sent a congratulatory message to Nana Akufo-Addo following his re-election as President of Ghana.

Akufo-Addo obtained 51.6% of the vote, compared with 47.4% won by his main rival, ex-President John Mahama.

Mahama has not yet conceded defeat. His party has rejected the results, citing alleged irregularities.

Congratulations to my brother and friend President Nana Akufo-Addo on your re-election. It is a testament to the trust the people of Ghana have placed in you. We look forward to continued friendship between our two nations and collaboration towards the prosperity of our people

,” Kagame wrote on Twitter.
