The first ever star to bring the James Bond franchise to big screens, Sir Sean Connery has been confirmed died at the age of 90.

The Scottish actor appeared in seven of the spy thrillers.

His son confirmed the movie star died peacefully in his sleeps at the Bahamas having been “unwell for some time”.

Sir Sean acting career spread across five decades in Hollywood with him winning an Oscar in 1988 for his role in The Untouchables.

His other films included The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.
