Talented Ghanaian Afrobeat/Afropop musician, Jackeline Acheampong, well known as Gyakie has opened up on what influenced her style of music and her preferences when it comes to selecting soothing tunes.

Speaking in an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM’s Ekwansodwodwo, the “Need Me” hitmaker disclosed that she used to listen to cool songs from Soul music, Afrobeat, and Afro-Fusion genre.

She further stated that growing, she realized that her father, the legendary Nana Acheampong was into Highlife music so she quickly got used to such tunes in addition to her preferences and that has been the main motivation behind her style of music.

Gyakie also stated that she also loved listening to songs from the likes of Usher Raymond, Efya, Popcaan, and other singers and that also contributed to her sounds now.

In other news, Ghanaian US-based rapper, Sam Safo, well known as Showboy has taken to the microblogging platform, Twitter to lament on the harm his stay in prison in the USA is gradually causing damage to his mental health.

After being charged with murder, Showboy is currently serving a 15-year sentence in prison in the United States of America. According to reports from the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, the 27-year-old rapper was convicted of aggravated violence for the July 2016 incident at the Wesley Herrington apartments.

Showboy was sentenced to 15 years in prison with six years to serve for stabbing and killing an acquaintance inside a Lawrenceville apartment during a recorded attack.
