Chelsea FC ” The Blues ” denied Brighton & Hove Albion on New Year’s Day. The match was played at the American Express Community Stadium, home of the ” The Seagulls”.

Chelsea skipper, César Azpilicueta, making it his 100th start as caprain, opened the score line with a tap-in on the 10th minute of play. The goal made him the first Spanish goalscorer to net the first goal of the calender year in the premier league era.

He joins Fernando Torres ( 2 ), Diego Costa and Ayoze Perez as Spanish goalscorers on New Year’s Day

Brighton dominated most part of the game. Brighton forward Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a late stunner. He scored a wonderful overhead kick.
