There was a shooting incident on the campus of the University of Virginia. UVa recently. The police has released a statement to this effect and according to the police, the suspect at the center of this controversy has been identified.

The suspect, according to the police, is Christopher Darnell Jones and it was revealed that the suspect grew up in Richmond. He even played football at two area high schools during his formative years.

The incident was reported by the university management via their official Twitter account and the post reads;

“ACTIVE ATTACKER firearm reported in area of Culbreth Road. RUN HIDE FIGHT.”

Jones was identified as the suspect by the emergency management department on Sunday evening, and he was described as a Black male wearing a burgundy jacket, blue jeans, and red shoes. According to police, he may be driving a black sport utility vehicle with Virginia license plate TWX-3580.

UVa police said he is armed and dangerous, and they advised residents to take cover and contact family and friends.

Jones played football for the University of Virginia in 2018, but did not appear in any games, according to the athletic department’s website.

According to multiple reports, Jones’ father abandoned the family when he was a child, and Jones got into fights at school, resulting in suspensions.

He attended Varina and Petersburg High Schools before graduating from Petersburg in 2018.

Robyn S. Hadley, dean of students, sent an email to the University of Virginia community early Monday morning. She informed students that she, too, was on campus and taking cover.
