Following the death of Tanzanian president, President John Magufuli, the vice-president of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn-in.
She becomes the first female president of Tanzania and she was sworn-in at an event held today, March 19.
Taking her oath, she said;
“I, Samia Suluhu Hassan, promise to be honest and obey and protect the constitution of Tanzania.”
The president of Tanzania, President Magufuli’s died due to a heart-related disease on Wednesday, Feb 17.
His death came more than two weeks after he disappeared from the public with many people suggesting that he had contracted the death Coronavirus disease.
