Veteran Ghanaian actress, Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono has expressed her displeasure in the influx of foreign content on our screens in present times, ignoring content that contains our culture.

According to the “By The Fire Side” actress, she is saddened about how foreign content like Telenovelas has taken over our screens instead of promoting our local movies which contain the Ghanaian elements and culture.

During an interview on United Showbiz on UTV hosted by Nana Ama Mcbrown, Maame Dokono revealed that she has volumes of scripts in her abode which could be used on set and turned into movies to educate the young ones about our culture but the industry players have ignored and rather projecting foreign contains.

She urged the government to regulate the media l andscape to ensure that local content and our cultural values are being promoted through the media instead of foreign content.

In other news, Ghanaian singer, Akosua Kwakye, well known as AK Songstress has lamented how Ghanaians tend to appreciate talents from other countries yet have refused to channel the same energy to support talents from their own country Ghana.

According to the songstress, most people presumed her new song “Jonathan” was a Nigerian tune until they realized she has the amazing singer behind the tune. She said that most people have been following her and realized she has dropped a new song titled “Jonathan” yet they had to give Nigerians credit for her work.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with KMJ, AK Songstress revealed that most people were praising her for composing a song with Nigerian melodies but failed to acknowledge the fact that she is a talent from Ghana.
