The University of Ghana, Legon and the University of Cape Coast have suspended lectures with immediate effect over the outbreak of the COVID-19, 3news.com reports.

According to 3news.com, all student residents on campus have been asked to stay indoors while non- resident students have been banned from visiting the campus until further notice.

The announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu in a live broadcast.

The suspension of lectures comes after a student of Legon was tested positive for the virus. The student was said to have traveled to the States but returned on Monday with the disease.

On the other hand, the President of the SRC of the University of Cape Coast has also informed all students of the suspension of lectures until further notice.
