According to her, the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is doing a spectacular disservice to new and upcoming artistes in the Ghanaian music industry.

In an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Celestine Donkor stated that the board failed to do a thorough evaluation and scouting for new and talented songwriters who might even be better than those they have nominated this year.

She mentioned that Kofi Kinaata, Akwaboah, and others have always dominated that category, but should the board have explored, they would have probably updated the list with a new set of artistes.

“We have people like Kinaata, Akawaboa, and co, the category is fixated on them. It [the board] is not giving a chance for people who are coming up probably stronger than those names to be given a hearing. I am 100% sure that for this year’s songwriters category that some songs were not giving a proper listening,” she said.

Well, Celestine Donkor happens to be one of the few Ghanaian musicians who have come out to complain about this year’s nominations. Others believe that the board has been biased with its nomination list this year.
