Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Edward Buffett, has resigned from his position as a trustee at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

 Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, are co-founders of the foundation, and they have shelled out billions of dollars to organizations and NGO needing support with their latest donation being the grant they gave for the research into the vaccine of Covid-19.

Warren Buffet served as a trustee on the board for years and he has now resigned from the position.

Warren Buffet said in a statement: “For years I have been a trustee , an inactive trustee at that – of only one recipient of my funds, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

“I am now resigning from that post, just as I have done at all corporate boards other than Berkshire’s,” Buffet said in a statement.

The billionaire couple recently announced they are seeking for divorce after 27 years of marriage.

According to Bill, the decision came after a great deal of thought and also a lot of work on their relationship.

He stated that although they won’t be together as a couple, they will still continue to work together at their foundation adding their family needs privacy in this stage in their new life.

Bill Gates issued a statement that reads;

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue to work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”
