Popular Ghanaian highlife artiste, Kwaisey Pee has stated that singer Kuami Eugene is too young to be crowned as highlife king in Ghana.

It can be recalled that Kuami Eugene was crowned by veteran highlife artiste Amakye Dede at the 20th VGMA as the ‘Highlife King’. This, unfortunately, didn’t go down well with some artistes includ ing some industry players, describing it as fake and unwarranted.

Reacting to the news, Kwaisey Pee said in a recent at the premiere of KiDi’s Sugar movie that, he is of the view that Amakye Dede was pushed by the organizers of VGMA to crown Kuami Eugene as a young highlife king.

“Well, I think it’s too early to have something like that coming up. To be honest with you, the Abrantie Amakye Dede I know was pushed to that, and so the organizers should bow their heads in shame for doing that. He is a good artist don’t get me wrong, but it only been one year, so at least wait for him to last about a decade before doing that.”, he said.

According to Kwaisey Pee, he stated that it would have been right and understandable if the artiste has been in the music scene for at least half a decade and has lots of albums to his credit but not just been a year in the music industry.

“They know the guy is good, and don’t get me wrong he is a good artiste and it’s been only one year but at least I could understand it when it’s half a decade or a decade but it’s only been one year and you don’t even know how far he is gonna go after here. You just don’t wake up and crown someone a king, it doesn’t make sense. You have to put all these things into consideration before crowning someone a king” he added.
