After years of rumors that they were signed together with Mr. Eazi and Efya, the award-winning singing duo R2bees has opened up on the reason they decided to leave Starboy Entertainment.

According to the former President of the Starboy label, it was something they attempted to develop, but public criticism drove them to walk away from it.

In a recent chat with Andy Dosty on HITZ 103.9 FM, Omar Sterling explained the reason behind their withdrawal from Wizkid’s worldwide label.

Omar said;
“It’s something we tried to build. I also feel like the public opinion or the perception regarding two different natives and we being legends here, I think Ghanaians did not really take it that well. We didn’t really think deep into that. Before we started the whole Starboy thing, we discussed with Wizkid. We have a serious brotherhood with him and he has his serious platform. We suggested bringing Mr. Eazi on board, and Efya was already with us. It was something I thought it was going to be really huge, but the public opinion made us as R2bees first of all step back.
According to Andy Dosty on the show, Omar Sterling remained the President of Starboy after the brouhaha, but why couldn’t he issue any statement out to inform the public about their decision.

Sterling replied;
“We are not really into issuing statements. We like people to believe in what they want to believe. Amongst us, we have a very serious movement we were trying to create, but the public kinda messed it up. I don’t really talk to the public. Who is the public any? It’s just one individual. We are the public. One one individual forms the public, so when I’m talking to one person, I feel like talking to the public. So, with the whole public opinion, we felt like it is what it is, we step back. We unofficially put it together, so Mr. Eazi wasn’t signed, R2bees wasn’t signed and Efya wasn’t signed.
