US-based Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu has caused a stir on social media after he took to the platform to flaunt an award he claimed to have received from American President Joe Biden.

Recall Sonnie Badu was caught up in controversy some time ago when he revealed that he was awarded a degree, master’s, and Ph.D. in 4 months.

Taking to his Instagram page, the musician showed off the award plaques he had received as lifetime achievement award by the American President Joe Biden and his vice Kamala Harris for his contributions.

He wrote: “I’m extremely humbled, elated, and excited about this new award. The Lifetime Achievement Award right here in the United States from President Joe Biden and Vice president Harris. I am truly grateful. This is truly inspiring” Sonnie said in his video.

“Another great honor bestowed upon me. I am truly humbled to receive a presidential lifetime award from Biden and Harris … This particular one is dedicated to my son. And to @tiuauniversity thank you for making it happen… I love you,”

The new revelation did not sit well with some Ghanaians as they maintained that they would try to get to the bottom of the story and find out the real truth.

See some reactions:

the_pathpaver: We shouldn’t be so quick to hype just any “award” that has the semblance of being genuine. Many times we have seen how this man has presented diploma mill certificates as genuine (you can Google what diploma mills are if you don’t know), as well as misrepresenting awards for what they are not to hoodwink people into believing them just for hype. This particular award is available for charities and organizations to reward its VOLUNTEERS. It’s NOT given by the US President or his Vice, though the issuing organization is allowed to use a seal (hopefully, it’s a certifying organization that used it). But for the sake of hype, Badu wants us to believe that Joe Biden has given him an award. That is blatantly an untruth. There’s nothing like a lifetime achievement award given by the White House to any personality. Easily verifiable information.

the_pathpaver: Secondly, don’t we think an award from the US President will most likely have been presented at a formal event??? Why “gye na fa ko ma Sonnie” kind of award. Ghanaians please think. Read too.

odatgodbless: Life time achievement of what?
