Wendy Shay dubbed the “Queen of Ghana Music,” is still reeling from her heartbreaking loss at the just concluded Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Wendy Shay is exuding negative energy and talking out of grief in interviews, claiming that some of the VGMA award winners did not deserve their honors. Without mentioning names, Wendy believes she and some artists in the industry worked the hardest in the room therefore they should have picked up an award.

According to the “Uber driver” hitmaker, the organizers are doing well but seem to have some vested interest in some artistes. To her, they are not different from the NDC and NPP as favoritism is the order of the day in their administration.

Speaking further with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM, displeased Wendy said, there are two sorts of artists in Ghana’s music industry. ie, there are artists in the business who pour their hearts and souls into their work but are not acknowledged by award systems, and there are artists who are adored and dubbed “favorites” in the industry.

At award presentations, these industry favorites sweep all of the honors, leaving little for others who fought hard for it.

Wendy Shay may not be the only singer to make this claim; several Ghanaian entertainers,  have said that large award schemes, such as the VGMA, are created to satisfy a specific group of artists.

Flowking Stone, who has made a name for himself in the music industry, was not nominated, and he took to social media to label the VGMA as “still crooked.”
