He added that the lack of representation of highlife artists in the Artist of the Year category undermines the hard work the genre’s artists put in showcasing Ghanaian music.

“What does one need to do to get nominated for artist of the year? In my case, I was nominated for Album of the year, and two songs off that album earned me nominations as Songwriter of the Year, Male Vocalist of the year, Best Highlife Artiste, Best Highlife Song, and Record of the year, yet somehow these works were not good enough to be nominated as Artist of the year. It simply does not make sense”.

He however added that he is not perturbed about it.
