Grammy award winning Nigerian Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Burna Boy together with Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz will represent the Africa in the 2021 BET Awards.

The organizers of the Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET Awards) announced the full nomination list for the various categories for this year’s edition of the biggest musical award shows in ‘Black’ history.
The two Nigerian singers Wizkid and Burna Boy, together with their Tanzanian counterpart Diamond Platnumz were the only Africans who got nomination when the full list was announced earlier in the day.
The three African superstars were nominated in the Best International Act category alongside some artistes like Aya Nakamura from France, Emicida from Brazil, Headie One from the United Kingdom, France’s Youssopha and Young T & Bugsey also from the United Kingdom.
The three are no strangers with regards to the BET Awards, but Diamond Platnumz will be the only artist among the three who hasn’t won the award yet.
Wizkid holds the record as the most nominated African artist with 5 nominations winning 2 followed by Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie who will be missing in action this year, with 4 nominations winning 1. Davido is among the artists who has been nominated 3 times for the award and winning 2 out of it.
Burna Boy seems to be the only artist who has won 2 out of the two nominations that he has received winning the last two editions in that category in 2019 and 2020.
