It was a moment of great excitement as residents of Ogun State in Nigeria saw their native world boxing champion Anthony Joshua as he visited the palace of Akarigbo of Remo in Sagamu.

There was a mad rush as soon as news broke that the Nigerian-born UK fighter has touched down on their soil and everybody wanted to catch a glimpse of him.

Anthony Joshua, although British, is of Nigerian descent. He was born in Watford to a Nigerian mother, Yeta Odusanya, and a British father of Nigerian and Irish descent, Robert, in 1989.

The boxer spent some of his early years in Nigeria and was a boarding school student at Mayflower School in Ikenne.

It is reported that Anthony Joshua comes from a royal family in the Sagamu Area of Lagos State.
