The Borno State Government has launched mechanized farming and set up 10 mega-farms in 10 local government areas of the state to upgrade food production.

The Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Bukhar Talba, announced it Monday in Maiduguri, explaining the achievements that Governor Babagana Zulum had recorded in one year of his service.

He stated that the ministry of have set up mega farms on 3,611 hectares of land in the 10 local government areas.

Konduga, Ngala, Dikwa , Mafa, Gubio Damboa, Biu, Askira/Uba , Magumeri and Kaga were some of the local government areas that enjoyed from the project, he said.

The Commissioner continued that the importance of the mega farms was motivate the farmers to get back to farming in their communities.

He said, “The ministry, in her effort to mechanise farming, repaired 56 tractors and provided them with all the accessories for the 2020 farming season. The tractors are now ready for farm operations.”
