On Tuesday night, December 7, Ijaw youths gathered under the auspices of the Ijaw Youth Council to stage a candlelight parade in remembrance of 11-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, the Dowen college student who was reportedly brutally killed by his classmates.

At around 7 p.m., the Ijaw youths gathered to light their candles and seek justice for Sylvester. See more photographs in the gallery below.

In other news, the Oyo State Police Command has nabbed Abideen Raheem, a 42 year old man supposed to be a ritualist.

Raheem confessed to exhuming a corpse from an Ibadan cemetery, cutting off the head, and selling it to an acquaintance for N25,000 while being paraded. His companion, he claimed, required the human head for a monetary ritual.

“I wanted to help my friend who contacted me that he needed human head for money ritual. I cut the head with a knife, and took it away. I gave my friend who told me that he needed it for money ritual.”

The suspect said his friend was arrested with the head on his way home.

“It was his arrest that led to my arrest” Raheem said.

When questioned, the companion, identified as Moruf Ganiyu, stated that he need the human head for money ritual purposes.

“I discussed the issue with my friend Raheem and he promised to get me the head. On getting it, he called me. I collected it and I gave him the sum of N25,000 for his job.

I actually wanted to use the head for money ritual” Ganiyu said
