The North-East Joint Task Force in Damaturu, Yobe State, has given the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency 98 parcels of Cannabis Sativa worth N4.9 million.

Major General Koko Is oni, Sector Commander, stated this while handing over the seized substances to the Agency on Monday in Damaturu.

The Commander, represented by his Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Umar Mu’azu, stated that the substances were seized on October 7, 2022, by troops of the 159 Battalion in the state’s Geidam Local Government Area.

In his submission, he said;

“It was abandoned by the courier including the vehicle conveying the consignment when he saw the patrol team.”

Additionally, Aliyu Yahaya, the Agency’s State Commandant, praised the army for the gesture, noting that each parcel of Cannabis costs N50,000.

Yahaya, who was represented by the Deputy State Commandant, Ogar Peter, praised the collaboration between the state’s security agencies.

He also indicated that;

“We are pleased to receive this exhibit. The gesture demonstrates the synergy that exists between the security agencies in the state.”
