Ghanaian musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., widely known as Shatta Wale has lamented that the Ghana music industry has no royalty and copyright system to protect the income and properties of musicians in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Paul Adom-Otchere on the Good Evening Ghana segment aired on Metro TV, the controversial dancehall crooner intimated that he has since been complaining about musicians not being paid the royalties they deserve but the industry players have played a deaf ear to his cries.
He also mentioned most Ghanaian musicians have the notion that their streams on digital streaming platforms should fetch them the income they require from their music, hence none wanted to join him in his quest to fight for royalties for musicians.
Shatta Wale also stated that the music industry lacks the proper structure and measures to monetize the music system and pay musicians the royalties they deserve. He added that should the structures or the system be improved, Ghanaian musicians will fetch more income and wouldn’t even find the need to travel to other countries.
He also averred that the Ghanaian music industry lacks a copyright system to monitor the music business and fetch musicians as many income as they can garther.
