The kidnappers who held Racheal Opadele, a 500 Level student at LAUTECH, and her hotelier boss hostage for a N100M ransom, both met untimely deaths.

The young woman and her boss were abducted on July 29 while working at a hotel owned by Gbenga Owolabi in Ogbomosho, where the ASUU strike was still in effect.

A family member acting as the negotiator persuaded the kidnappers to lower their demand from N100M to N5M in exchange for the release of the kidnappers.

The negotiator appealed to come to a deal with the kidnappers while lamenting the plight of the business, which was alleged to be operated on loans, in the audio that was leaked.

According to reports, the kidnappers consented to accept N5M, which was expected at an exchange location.

However, after receiving a tip from an insider about the army’s presence at the exchange spot, the kidnappers executed the hostages along with the motorcyclist who had brought the victim carrying the cash.

Over the intended setup, the person who brought the ransom was shot in the leg.
