The Award for the Unsung Act of the Year which was presented to singer Gambo during the 23rd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) seems to have sat wrongly with many people.

Many of them have taken to social media to dole out their concerns including Dan Lartey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Remedi Entertainment. According to him, he didn’t anticipate Gambo to earn that award because the category was competitive.

He told Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast’s Kastle FM;

“I’m equally very shocked that Gambo won the VGMA Unsung Act of the Year because actually, I was not expecting Gambo to win the Unsung,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye.

He added on the Kastle Entertainment Show, “As for that one it really surprised me because the likes of King Maaga, Shuga Lord, Ama Nova, Roy X Taylor were all involved in that category.

“These are guys that over the years, they’ve really shown what they’re made of in the music industry though this award comes with votes,” he continued.

“If you look at the nominees’ jam and the performances of all the Unsung Acts I’m very surprised that Gambo got this award,”
