Talented Nigerian songstress, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe who is known as Ayra Starr in showbiz has indicated that she always knew music was the one thing that would greatly influence and change her life.

She made this known in a recent submission she had with Spotify and in her submission, she said;

“Ever since I was a child, I knew that one day, music would change my whole life. Growing up, I knew I was going to be a musician.

I did not know when or how it would happen, but I knew it would eventually happen. Even when I was around six or seven years old, I used to argue with choir members in church whenever they said I could not be the lead singer.

I used to tell them that when I became a superstar, they would not be able to tell me that.”

The musician gained mainstream recognition with her eponymous debut extended play in 2021 and its hit single “Away,” which spent two consecutive weeks at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 and went to number 17 on US Billboard Top Triller Global, paving the way for the August 2021 release of her first full-length studio album, 19 & Dangerous.

The EP, which is primarily classified as Afropop and R&B, has received positive critical acclaim. In Nigeria, it spawned two top forty hits.

Her lead single on the EP, “Bloody Samaritan,” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first female solo artist to do so. Starr debuted on Pandora’s Predictions chart, and on August 28, 2021, she ranked second on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart.
