Raving Nigerian singer-songwriter, Omah Stanley Didia, known within the showbiz circles as Omah Lay sat down with renowned journalist, Joey Akan.

Omah Lay appeared as a guest on popular music journalist, Joey Akan’s Afrobeats Intelligence podcast where he narrated difficulties in growing up due to the early loss of his father, Mr Didia.

According to the ‘Woman’ hit-maker, his father died when he was 12 and he had to support his family by illegally refining crude oil in the creeks. In his worn words; “I’m the first child and my dad died– Boy Alone himself, when I was around 12. So the weight of the family was on me when I was 13/14, I went to Marine Base and did anything I could do to take care of my family. I dey do kpo fire”.

He also detailed how through the hardship, he still had passion form music and had gone from his crude oil business in day time to participating in rap battles at night. Omah Lay also revealed he learned music production via a Dr Roy, Mercy Chinwo producer. Listen to the full podcast HERE.

Omah Lay recently hit a career milestone as his 14 tracked star studded studio album, ‘Boy Alone’ debuted on Switzerland’s official album chart known as Swiss Hitparade. The project has made its first appearance at the 82nd position Screenshot below.
