Billionaire Jeff Bezos has officially stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amazon after 27 years.

Yesterday, the founder of the company handed over his Chief Executive Officer title to the former cloud-computing boss at the company, Andy Jassy as the new CEO of Amazon ending his over two decades as the company’s CEO.

Recall Jeff Bezos back in May after an inclusive meeting with the board of directors at Amazon announced to the whole world that he will be vacating his position as the company’s CEO on July 5th, 2021.

Jeff Bezos in his resignation announcement back in May as the chief executive officer stated he picked July 5th as the day he will step down from his position because it’s a very important and memorable day in the company’s history.

He said July 5th, 2021 will be exactly 27 years since the Amazon company was incorporated as the biggest online shop in the world in 1994.

We chose that date because it’s sentimental for me, the day Amazon was incorporated in 1994, exactly 27 years ago”, Bezos said in his announcement in May at Amazon’s annual shareholder meeting, which was held virtually.

The billionaire will now be the chairman of the board of directors of the company will now have ample time to concentrate on his other projects like the Washington Post, Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company, and the Amazon Day 1 Fund.
