Reports reaching us indicate that Governor Obaseki’s eligibility to contest in the PDP governorship primary has been halted.

Per the report, a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State issued this document which seeks to prevent Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State from participating in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

One of the governorship aspirants, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama filed for the suit and has subsequently vowed not to step down for Obaseki.

He is praying Obaseki is prevented from contesting in the primary on several grounds.

According to him, the Edo State Governor just joined the party and that only those who purchased the forms during the stipulated window before the waiver granted Obaseki should be allowed to partake in the primaries.

Additionally, he also raised concerns over Obaseki’s certificates.
