The trial of former Abia State governor, Orji Kalu has now been placed on hold.

It could be that the popular Nigerian politician was supposed to be re-arraigned before court as his money-laundering cases continues.

However, a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered his re-arraignment to be to be put on hold for some time.

The senator is facing an alleged seven point N1.7 billion money-laundering charges and the case will be on till all pending issues concerning the legality of the retrial charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are resolved.

The ruling was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo who granted leave to the Senator representing Abia north, to challenge the legality of the retrial in the same charges.

Giving his judgement, the judge ruled that Senator Kalu had placed sufficient materials of value before the court to enable him to secure permission for judicial review of his retrial in charges in which he had been tried, convicted, and spent some months at Kuje prison in Abuja.
