In response to a vintage video in which his running companion, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, called for the murder of LGBTQ people, the Labour Party’s Peter Obi responded.

When the anti-gay law in Nigeria was being discussed, Baba-Ahmed was a senator. In 2014, during the plenary, Baba-Ahmed shared his own viewpoint and suggested that such “elements” in society should be eliminated.

”Actually such elements in the society should be killed” he said

Nigerians unearthed the video of Baba-Ahmed urging the eradication of homosexuals not long after he was named Peter Obi’s running mate.

Peter Obi was recently asked to respond to his running mate’s remark, which some people considered offensive, in an interview with a radio station. He stated:

” 2014 to today is about eight years. But that not withstanding, we all have made comments that we believe in and it is allowed. I for one is tolerant of people’s views and their lifestyle. This is me. As long as it doesn’t affect my interest. For me, we jave more critical issues to deal with Today and that is what I will be concentrating on”
