A student of Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Muniru Abubakar and his two accomplices have been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for reportedly killing and burying his pregnant girlfriend.
According to reports, a ND 2 Library Science student of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi called Franca Elisha Iliya died while his boyfriend, Abubakar was trying to get rid of the baby.
According to Abubakar, it was mutually decided that the baby would be aborted secretly. Police reported that the suspect called his friend Huzaifa Shuaibu, a student of the College of Health Technology, Mubi to perform the abortion in his room.
Huzaifa is alleged to have given Franca an injection for the abortion, but she passed out right away and only recovered consciousness later after a valiant attempt.
She was given the second dose of the injection when she recovered, following which she was alleged to have fainted again and never recovered, dying in the room.
Sensing danger, Muniru Abubakar allegedly called another of his buddies, Rabiu Adamu, a Polytechnic student, to conspire with them to bury the corpse in a small grave with her phone, national identity card, and other materials that could disclose the horrible act they had perpetrated.
After the deceased’s father, Mr Elisha Iliya, made complaints about his missing daughter, the suspects were apprehended.
Iliya, who lives in Sabon Gari, Mubi, informed Tribune Online that his daughter left home for school on that tragic day, but did not return, and that they searched everywhere and made contact with no luck.
They saw her classmates at school, and one of them said that she had left the deceased with her lover, Abubakar, and returned to the dormitory because it was raining.
Abubakar was apprehended while playing football by the police, who demanded that he lead them to the cemetery where Franca was buried.
DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, a spokesman for the State Police Command, confirmed the arrest and added that the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Alhaji, has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the event.
According to Nguroje, the inquiry has revealed that Muniru Abubakar impregnated the deceased, Huzaifa Shuaibu provided the injection, and Rabiu Adamu participated in the burial of the body.
The accused will be charged in court soon, according to the PPRO. Meanwhile, the deceased’s father has pleaded with the appropriate authorities to do all possible to guarantee that justice is served.
