Mr. Ahmed Tamimu has filed his nomination to contest in the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Pru West Constituency for the 2024 General Election. His nomination was filed on his behalf by a team of his supporters led by his Campaign Coordinator Abdul Hakeem Halik Sambian on Monday 20th March, 2023 at the party’s temporary office at Danufawa D/A Primary in Prang.
At the event, Mr. Sambian echoed Mr. Ahmed’s pledge to work tirelessly in order to unseat Hon. Stephen Jalulah(deputy minister of roads and highways) who won the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the first time in the 2020 General Election. He further stated that Mr. Ahmed is committed to a peaceful Primaries to elect the most suitable Parliamentary Candidate to reclaim the seat and retain it for perpetuity.
Moreover, Mr. Sambian has disclosed that Mr. Ahmed enjoins the Constituency Executives to embrace peace and unity in order to strengthen the base of the party. He has also indicated that it would be difficult for Mr. Ahmed to lead a divided Party and be able to win the seat for us.
Hon. Stephen Jalulah, deputy minister roads and highways was the then DCE of Pru West District from 2017 to 2020. His hard work according to the President during his tenure as DCE earned him the ministerial appointment but Mr. Ahmed Tamimu has sighted his poor performance both at the ministry and the constituency therefore ready to lead NDC to take the seat from him and continue the rapid development of the constituency under the NDC’s administration.
The Election Committee led by the Constituency Secretary Mr. Samuel Agyapong thanked Mr. Ahmed for his decision to contest in the upcoming Primaries. He, again, reiterated the commitment of the Constituency Executive Committee to embrace unity and ensure that Pru West regains its status as one of the safe seats for the National Democratic Congress.
