Senator Ali Ndume, chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, has stated that insecurity in the country is decreasing.

Ndume, who represents Borno South, made the remark while answering questions from journalists following the turbaning of Malam Saliu Mustapha, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress national leadership, as the new Turaki of Ilorin on Friday, October 22.

He stated that the federal government is doing a good job and is doing everything it can to address the problem of insecurity.

The senator said;

“Insecurity is going down, it is not eliminated. Normally this kind of a thing is not something that you will just say it is all-over.”

In other news, the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, has stated that electing a President from the North East will put a stop to the insurgency raging across the country.

On Thursday, the governor announced this during his speech at the 2021 North East Star Magazine awards.

Governor Fintiri, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, predicted that the insurgency in the North East will stop within the first term of any candidate of North Eastern descent taking office.

According to him, former Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai tried his hardest to put an end to the insurgency, but his efforts only yielded minor results because the counter-insurgency activities did not have the full support required from the president.

“The Boko Haram insurgency will be wiped out in the first term of a president from the North East. It is a popular saying that he, who wears the shoe, knows where it pinches him. Lt. Gen. Buratai did his best when he was at the helm of affairs.

If he had been given 100 per cent support, I want to believe, he would have snuffed out the terrorists in Sambisa forest” Fintiri said
