South African soul singer Simphiwe Dana is set to tie the knot with opera singer Pumeza Matshikiza.

The “Usikhonzile” hitmaker made the big announcement on her Twitter account yesterday and also talked about how it took her a long time to accept her queer identity.

She then mentioned that she is getting married. “It took me a long time to accept that I’m queer. And please, take it from me. I have never lied to you. I’m now getting married to the most amazing person. I need you to be happy for me,” she posted.

Congratulations were in order for the singer after her huge announcement. One Twitter user identified as @BackyardstudioC wrote: “Wish you absolutely everything of the best and cherish everything that you have, take care to guard it and accept the moments as they come. The gift you have is incredible, may the highest blessings be bestowed upon you.”

Meanwhile, Simphiwe Dana recently opened the lid on her struggles with depression and anxiety amid the tragic death of AKA’s fiancée Anele ‘Nelli’ Tembe.

Taking to her Twitter account, Simphiwe Dana shared her struggles with her mental health and revealed she has failed to take medications for it for fear it might have an impact on her creative abilities.

“Thank you for sharing. I am Simphiwe Dana and I suffer from depression and anxiety. I don’t take meds for the depression as I fear it will affect my creativity. I do take stressam for the anxiety,” she wrote.
