The death of the black actress was announced via social media through colleague actress Octavia Spencer.
“My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night,” Spencer captioned a headshot of Eddy. “The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her 💔🕊️”

Sonya Eddy was born on June 17, 1967, in Concord, California. Her love for the movie industry made her pursue theatre and dance at the University of California, Davis where she was awarded her BA.
She was also a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Before Sonya Eddy’s death, she had starred in various Television series including Gadget, Barbershop, Daddy Daycare, Matchstick Men, Bad News Bears, Seven Pounds, The Perfect Game, and Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday among others.
Sonya Eddy died last night, 19th December 2022.
