A kidnapping incident has been recorded in the Umuezie Community. Eze Charles Iroegbu, the traditional ruler of Umuezie community of Nguru Mbaise in Aboh Mbaise LGA of Imo State has been abducted.

It was gathered that he wasn’t kidnapped alone, some his cabinet chiefs fell victim to the abduction. Their kidnappers didn’t bolt away with their vehicles, they were left on the road.

According to reports, the traditional ruler and his cabinets were returning from a traditional wedding at Mbano when they encountered their abduction by gunmen.

The abducted traditional ruler is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of All States Mass Transit.

Well, Imo state has been recording a number of kidnapping cases and attacks on police stations recently. A fresh attack on Wednesday, April 7, left two officers of the Police injured at the Mbieri divisional police headquarters.

There was also a recent attack on the Nigerian correctional center launched by gunmen where over 1800 inmates broke free. This attacked occurred on Monday, April 5.

6 inmates voluntarily turned themselves in after they fled the correction facility in Owerri, Imo. Reports revealed that only 35 inmates refused to get away.

In another return of escapees, 80 inmates showed up at the facility. This comes after Federal Minister of Interior Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola promised that the Federal government will grant any returnee inmate amnesty.
