In a recent Instagram post, TV and radio personality Relebogile Mabotja had opened up on the nature of her child’s birth and the heartbreaking experience she went through when she almost lost him.

“Nothing in the world could have prepared me for this moment. Not a class, not a book, not advice, not other mothers’ experiences…Nothing.
Nothing went according to plan. So much went wrong in the build up. It was an emergency we didn’t anticipate. We could have lost you again.
Yet the moment was perfect. And I was ready. More importantly, so were you!” the presenter recounts.

She also expressed her gratitude: “The day you were born is the day I as your mother was born, and I will never be the same again.”

Although the award-winning presenter didn’t go into details as to what really happened, she revealed in a initial interview with IOL that she has fibroids.

“So many women have asked me how I get pregnant with fibroids and tell me that they didn’t know it could happen. It’s almost like I’ve been reintroduced to myself. The whole concept of creating life and bringing life to this Earth is a deeply special experience, and that’s why many women say ‘I have no words,” she was quoted as saying.

Relebogile, in another interview with News24, revealed that she found out about her fibroids back in 2013/2014, and at the time, there wasn’t much information out there.

“I had fears about cancers and whether these growths or tumours were benign or malignant, and I had to do the homework. I did not jump to cutting first, I explored homeopathy until the fibroids just became too much for me and we had to cut them out,” she explained.

She said she was fortunate enough to be in a position where she could consult different specialists to assist with her type of case, adding that she had a good support structure.

“Knowing that there was a possibility of them coming back didn’t make it easier. Finding out that they were back and that I was now pregnant with fibroids [was tough]. So, the way I have coped is through an amazing support system, lots of information and a team of specialists that are consulting, sharing information and of course just customising the treatment for me and my particular case,” Relebogile said.
