In a sad report, a goods train has collided with a bakkie at a railway crossing.

The incident has claimed two lives and this was revealed in a recent statement released by the South African Police Service.

The statement revealed that the incident occurred this morning at about 06:38 am near Alpha farm, in Thabanchu district.

According to the train driver, he noticed a white bakkie on the level crossing adding that he tried his best to warn the driver, however, the bakkie remained stationery until the train collided with it.

So far, the police is treating the case as a case of culpable homicide and it has been registered for investigation.

On Thursday 13 May 2021 at about 06:38 a goods train collided with a bakkie at a railway crossing near Alpha farm, in Thabanchu district.

The train driver alleges that he noticed a white bakkie on the level crossing and tried to warn the driver but the bakkie remained stationery until the two collided.

The two farm workers who were allegedly on patrol last night around the farm were declared dead.

A case of culpable homicide has been registered for investigation.”
