At Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, a tanker carrying diesel crashed and exploded, leaving two people confirmed dead.

According to what we’ve learned, the truck’s driver lost control as it entered Ogun State and had the license plate DTM 109 XA.

According to reports, he rammed the truck into the railings, causing it to flip over with its head severed and land in a ditch beneath the bridge.

Two of the three occupants were reportedly killed when the head exploded. Firefighters were on standby to prevent any kind of disaster from the allegedly spilled truck’s contents landing on the expressway.

The incident caused traffic to become backed up along the axis and into the Berger neighborhood.

At the scene of the incident, the police and members of the Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps could also be seen directing traffic.

Ahmed Umar, the FRSC’s Ogun State Commandant, claimed it was a single-vehicle accident brought on by speeding and a loss of control.

In his submission, he said;

“Obviously, the driver must have been on speed. It had three occupants, one survived and two others were trapped and burnt to death. Men of the fire service were able to put out the fire, but the detached head was too hot to ascertain the extent of damage.”
