Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, is a well-known Nigerian socialite and internet celebrity who was found guilty of fraud and money laundering and given an 11-year prison sentence by the US Central District Court in California.

Why he will spend only 9 years in jail? This is because he has already served two years in prison in the US, he will only serve nine years.

Hushpuppi was detained in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2020 as a result of an elaborate fraud scheme that defrauded individuals in the United States, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other countries of their money.

After that, he was taken to the US, where he was accused of fraud and money laundering. He entered a guilty plea to conspiring to launder money with a number of individuals both inside and outside the US in order to speed up the legal process.

However, the socialite received just 11 years in prison after pleading with US Judge Otis Wright for a lenient sentence and a reduced sentence after performing well in prison housekeeping tasks.

Keep in mind that Hushpuppi’s 2.8 million-follower Instagram page has disappeared from the photo-sharing website. However, it’s unclear whether it was formally taken down from Instagram or if a user with access temporarily blocked the page.
