Two years after Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun stepped down from office, she showed up at an event in Lagos.

Adeosun was forced to quit as Nigeria’s Finance Minister in September 2018 as a result of the NYSC controversy in which she was embroiled.

According to a July 2018 article by a National newspaper, she never participated in the mandated one-year scheme that is required to take on a government position.

She attended an event attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over the weekend.

The Dash Me Foundation, founded by former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, has established the “Dash Me Store,” an online thrift-for-charity project.

The store, which opened on Sunday, was created to raise funds for distribution to society’s most disadvantaged members through grassroots groups.

Adeosun resigned as minister in 2018 after being accused of presenting a falsified National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as part of her credentials.

She kept a quiet profile after the event, until the outfit’s inauguration, when she made her first official public appearance.

Adeosun stated in her speech th at the organization will work closely with grassroots charitable organizations to ensure that monies and other supplies donated through the Dash Me Store reach actual beneficiaries.

At the event, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stated that one reason responsible for the effective implementation of the federal government’s social investment programs is the realization that you cannot reach Nigerians unless you have a plan for the grassroots.

The vice-president praised Adeosun for the effort, which he described as the country’s first of its sort.

“I am excited to be here for several reasons, but most of all because of Mrs Adeosun’s commitment to the notion that all service to man is actually service to God, and she took that very seriously,” he said.

“This is why, as Minister, she prioritized the Social Investment Programmes, when for the first time, the country voted almost N500B of our annual budget to welfare programmes which are called the Social Investment Programmes, which involved engaging 500,000 young men and women, and also giving microcredit to about 2 million traders and also a home-grown school feeding programme for 9.5 million children daily in public schools across the country.

“I am therefore really not surprised that she has decided to use some of her enormous talent and influence to establish an organization that raises funds and provides resources for indigenous grassroot charities working with orphaned and vulnerable children, disadvantaged youth, and victims of domestic violence.

“What I think is happening here is that philanthropy is not like it used to be when all you needed was a good and kind heart and you didn’t need to plan or organize as you would a business for-profit.
