Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeat songstress, Yemi Alade, has reportedly canceled her show; Nuits d’Afrique festival after being denied a Canadian visa.

Songstress Yemi Alade’s show  Nuits d’Afrique festival which was supposed to come off at Canada Montreal has been canceled after the singer was denied a visa by the embassy.

According to reports, the Nigerian Afropop s inger’s visa application including her team was refused due to financial reasons, and for fear that the group wouldn’t leave Canada after the show was done.

According to Le Devoir, the French-language newspaper published in Montreal and distributed in Quebec and throughout Canada reports that the songstress will be unable to perform at a festival’s final closing concert on Sunday.

“Finally, we got an answer saying the musicians were refused, saying they have to guarantee that they have enough financial means that will make them go back to their country,” she said.

“The procedures are longer than ever. I know when they’re from Africa, it’s not easy to get them here and never guaranteed,” the festival co-founder Suzanne Rousseau said.
