Sammy Gyamfi, who is the National Communication Officer of the National Democracy Congress (NDC) says Free Senior High School was started by Ex President Jerry John Rawlings under NDC.
According to him, the NDC ensured that access to free senior high school had legal backing after it was enshrined in the 1992 Constitution. He made the statement on Thursday 17 September, 2020 when speaking on Metro TV. Ghgossip.com
He said “Free SHS is not the baby of the New Patriotic Party. That is a misconception most Ghanaians have now and it needs to be clarified”
He continued “Free secondary school education is an initiative of the NDC/ PNDC Tradition, during the drafting of the 1992 constitution.”
Again, Mr. Sammy Gyanfi alleges the New Patriotic Party (NPP) boycotted Parliamentary sitting at the time Parliament was drafting the article for Free SHS.
“And that is why it is provided for under Article 25 of the 1992 constitution. They boycotted it when we were drafting it because they said they will not be part of constitution we have involve the ordinary Ghanaians,” he said.
