The suspects were detained in response to a report made by Comfort Okache, who claimed over the phone that her younger brother, who had traveled from Calabar to Lagos, had been abducted in the Mowe area of Ogun State and that the kidnappers were demanding N10 million from the boy’s family in order for them to see him alive.

Following the report, SP Folake Afeniforo of the DPO Mowe division assembled the tactical teams for the division and moved to the scene. The victim was found bound in both his wrists and his legs in an uncomplete building with the assistance of Asamoah Ernest, a Ghanaian, and Isiah Uti after a long and arduous search of the nearby jungle in the Orimerunmu area.

The victim was saved, and the two suspects who were discovered with him were quickly taken into custody. However, when they arrived at the station, the two suspects made the startling confession that the alleged victim was actually the one who conspired to kidnap him in order to collect money from his parents to invest in an internet business.

They added that Charity Lukpata and Ephraim Anyijor, both of whom are from the same Yala local government area of Crossriver as the victim, had introduced them to the fictitious victim, and that they were all involved in the scheme to abduct Edward Ochace.

The Spokesperson of the police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi also said that the confession led to the arrest of Charity Lukpata and Ephraim Anyijor.
