Following the announcement of the the electoral commission of Ghana on the GHC100,000 filing fee for presidential candidates and GHC10,000 for parliamentarian’s ahead of the 2020 elections it has caused amusement among political parties.

Liberal Party Of Ghana(LPG):
Kofi Akpaloo, Presidential candidate (LPG) said his p arliamentary candidates are not going to contest because the GHC 10,000. is expensive and they can’t afford.

National Democratic Congress(NDC):
Deputy General Secretary Mr. Peter Boamah Otokunor has described the posture of the EC as a ‘god’ over political parties adding that it’s a clear scheme by the EC to prevent some political parties from taken part in the upcoming elections.

All People’s Congress(APC):
Dr Hassan Ayariga says increasing the filing fee is an indication that our democracy is for sale and not base on the competence of the leader.

New Patriotic Party (NPP):

The Director of Elections Mr. Yaw Nimako has said the party was not consulted but they are ready to pay the said amount announced by the electoral commission.
