Ex-Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah has urged President Akufo Addo and his government to seek f inancial help from the International Monetary Fund, (IMF), as he opposes the idea of the E-Levy.

Whilst the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta and the NPP government is still forcing it down the throat of Ghanaians by getting it passed in Parliament as it is currently causing confusion in Parliament, Dr. Assibey Yeboah believes Ghana’s economy will be saved if the leadership reaches out to the IMF.

Speaking to Citi FM in an interview monitored by Ghbase.com, he cited the advantages and limitations of the E-Levy should it take effect in Ghana.

“I believe we should contact Washington if we haven’t already. We won’t seek contributions based on whether or not E-levy passes. E-tax will only raise GH5 billion. We are in a tax revenue bind and need help, therefore going to the Fund will help.

“Therefore, going to the Fund is OK. Ghana is an IMF member, so what’s wrong with asking for help when we’re in trouble?
