Information found by Ghgossip.com suggests that Majority Leader and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is expected to present the 2021 budget statement.

It follows the inability of the designated Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to present the budget due to his current state of health.

The budget presentation is in accordance with article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and article 21 of the 2016 Public Financial Management Law (Law 921).

The budget will be presented in Parliament on Friday, March 12, 2021 for its consideration and approval.

In October of last year, Mr. Ofori-Atta presented the Advance Expenditure Budget for 2021.
Under the law, this is to make provisions for first-quarter expenses as the country’s leadership transitions after the 2020 elections.

Public spending for the first quarter of 2021 was estimated at GHȻ27.34 billion, with total revenue and subsidies forecast at GHȻ13.3 billion, while total spending and arrears settlement was GHȻ24.01 billion.
