The vice-president of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has rejected the position as the flag-bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary General Election.

Recall some groups within the NPP has started campaigning for the vice-president to lead the party in the upcoming general elections. The group has already been filing posters across the country.
In a press release signed by the Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for Dr Bawumia, the vice-president says he has not given his consent to the groups within the NPP campaigning for him and his focus right now is to help the president Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to govern the country.
